- Income replacement for qualified periods of incapacity over 7 calendar days.
- Income replacement based on years of service.
- Increased benefits for catastrophic disability.
- Long-term disability begins after 6 months of short- term disability and may continue to normal retirement age.
- Retirement funded by a 5%Â pre-tax salary reduction plan.
- Service Retirement – vested after 5 years of service.
- Sworn employees may retire with full benefits:
- Age 50 with 25 years of service.
- Age 60 with 5 years of service.
- Receive supplement to retirement benefit with 20 years of hazardous duty service. The supplement is payable until social security age.
- Provisions for line-of-duty death in service.
- Voluntary program that permits you to build retirement savings on a pre-tax basis:
- You choose the method of payment and commencement date of your payments.
- Contributions are deducted from salary each pay period.
- Taxes are paid when your funds are paid to you.
- Cash Match variable depending upon funding (Currently up to $20/pay period, if deferring at least $40/pay period).
Years of Service:
- 0-5 years:Â 4 hours per pay period
- 5 years:Â 5 hours per pay period
- 10 years: 6 hours per pay period
- 15 years: 7 hours per pay period
- 20 years:Â 8 hours per pay period
- 25 years:Â 9 hours per pay period
- Months of State Service:
- Less than 120 (10 years):Â 32 hours (4 days) of leave
- 120 or more (Over 10 years):Â 40 hours (5 days) of leave
- Months of State Service:
- Less than 60 (5 years):Â 64 hours (8 days) of sick leave
- 60 to 119 (5- 10 years):Â 72 hours (9 days)Â of sick leave
- 120 or more (over 10):Â 80 hours (10 days) of sick leave
